Correct blurriness in the eye with LRI

In patients with more than the minimum level of corneal astigmatism, the post operative vision of the astigmatic eye may not be clear.

Moderate amounts of astigmatism can be rectified at the time of cataract surgery by making precise incisions at the corneal limbus (the corneal limbus is the part right next to the white of the eye), with an adjustable depth diamond blade. (We also offer the bladeless procedure for making the incision)

The decision as to where to place the incisions, the depth of the blade, the number of incisions and how long their length should be is guided by the data we get from a corneal topographer (Orbscan) and a nomogram.

LRI (Limbal Relaxing Incision) is known to correct astigmatism of upto 8 dipoters but normally it is used in cases between 0.5 – 4 diopters of astigmatism.

Astigmatic Keratotomy

Patients of astigmatism have a cornea that is shaped like a football. Astigmatic keratotomy is an eye surgery that corrects astigmatism by making one or two incisions at the steepest part of the cornea. These incisions cause the cornea to relax, flatten and become a more rounded shape. Astigmatic Keratotomy is often used in combination with other vision correction surgeries.
