Sapna Sipahimalani (60 year old) came to us for an opinion on refractive surgery. She was wearing glasses for 10 years and had used contact lenses for 2 years. She was not wearing contact lenses anymore because of repeated allergies. Her social life required going to parties, etc. but if she wore contact lenses, she was not able to read and had to use glasses over them.
She was advised to undergo refractive lensectomy (Prelex) to make her independent of glasses for almost all of her activities. Both her eyes were operated in one week interval.
After healing time, she has 6/6 vision in both her eyes and she is able to drive comfortably and do all her activities without the complexities of dealing with contact lenses and glasses.
